Welcome to Department of Biochemistry!

We have developed a fluorescence reporter system to visualize alternative pre-mRNA splicing events in vivo and are studying the regulation mechanisms, or so called "splicing codes". We are also studying disease models caused by disregulation of gene expression.

Hello Everyone!

I am KUROYANAGI Hidehito, a new professor of the Department of Biochemistry. I am very much pleased to join University of the Ryukyus Graduate School of Medicine.
I have been studying regulation mechanisms of gene expression in animals, especially of alternative pre-mRNA processing in living organisms. I have developed a new method to visualized pre-mRNA processing patterns in living cells or organisms and applied the system to tissue-specific and/or developmentally regulated alternative splicing events. We are also studying animal models of diseases caused by missense mutations in regulators of pre-mRNA processing or mRNA translation.

I am looking forward to studying these subjects with highly motivated undergrad and graduate students in Okinawa.
